The Springfield Science Museum specializes in the natural and physical sciences, featuring attractions such as the country's oldest planetarium, and a live animal center with fish, insects, reptiles, and other wildlife. Other attractions include Earth Hall, with its impressive assortment of crystals, minerals, and fossils, and a replica of the solar system with real rocks from outer space. The museum lies in the heart of town, about 85 miles to the west of downtown Boston, near the Springfield City Library.
