The Springfield Armory National Historic Site commemorates America's first armory with a sizable museum, year-round educational programs, and other special events. Its popular museum, founded in 1862, features an impressive collection of U.S. military shoulder arms, pistols, machine guns, and the machinery that has produced such weapons throughout time. The Site lies about 85 miles to the west of Boston, near Van Horn Park.
